============== Why ERP must have Trade and Logistics module? Because this module helps people answer the questions: where we purchase items, how we will deliver items from vendors, where the items are stored, whom we sell the items, how we will delivery items to customers etc. This module implements Logistics and Inventory management. What is Logistics management? Logistics management plans, implements and controls the efficient, effective forward and reverse flow and storage of goods, services and related information between the point of origin and the point of consumption in order to meet customer & legal requirements. What is Inventory management? The word “inventory” was first recorded in 1601. The French term inventaire, or “detailed list of goods,” dates back to 1415. Inventory management is primarily about specifying the qty and placement of stocked goods. In other word logistic management answer the questions like: how we could deliver item to Customer as quickly as possible, how many items we should buy from vendor and items not spoil, what optimal path to item in warehouse, where warehouse worker should pack goods and in what vehicle should load ones etc. (As you see logistics management control processes inside company – warehouse logistics and outside company – transport logistics). Inventory management answer the questions: where item is stored (aisle, row, shell), how many unit of item exist in warehouse etc. Hmm… interesting, if we transfer item from one company warehouse to another this is Logistics or Inventory management? Supply chain activities transform natural resources, raw materials and components into a finished product that is delivered to the end customer. In sophisticated supply chain systems, used products may re-enter the supply chain at any point where residual value is recyclable. So extend Logistic management description. Logistics management is that part of the supply chain which plans, implements and controls the efficient, effective forward and reverse flow and storage of goods, services and related information between the point of origin and the point of consumption in order to meet customer & legal requirements. Logistics is a channel of the supply chain which adds the value of time and place utility. Actually Logistics is the physical execution part of Supply Chain Management(SCM). SCM deals with more strategic aspect at macro level where as logistics is nuts and bolts of its implementation. Supply Chain consist of :
